Pärt and Williams in the Philharmonics of Poznań and Gorzów

In May Poznan Chamber Choir made guest appearances in the Philharmonics of Poznań and Gorzów. On the 13th of May, along with the Gorzów Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Monika Wolińska, the choir performed the mystical "Te Deum" for three choirs, strings, prepared piano and tape, composed by Arvo Pärt, an Estonian composer. Also Włodek Pawlik, the Grammy Laureate, appeared on the stage. One day later, during the Poznan Concert No. 453 in the Poznan Philharmonic, entitled "Music and. Antarctic", Poznan Chamber Choir performed with the Poznan Philharmonic Orchestra led by Łukasz Borowicz. The program of the concert featured "Sinfonia Antarctica" - Symphony No. 7 by Ralph Vaughan Williams.

Premiere of Grzegorz Duchnowski's "Stabat Mater"

Poznan Chamber Choir, invited by the Gorzów Philharmonic, performed the premiere of Grzegorz Duchnowski's "Stabat Mater" - a piece written in the framework of a ministerial program entitled "Composition Contracts". The first performance took place in the Parish Five Martyr Brothers' church in Gorzów Wielkopolski. The ensemble was accompanied by Dorota Szczepańska (soprano) and the Gorzów Philharmonic Orchestra led by Monika Wolińska.

The premiere was preceded by an a cappella choral part of the concert, during which the audience could listen to the pieces by Michael McGlynn, Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, Andrzej Koszewski, Łukasz Urbaniak, Marek Raczyński and György Deák-Bárdos.

L’Orphée d’Or 2015 – an international award for Poznan Chamber Choir!

The double album Oratorio la morte di San Filippo Neri, recorded along with Bartosz Michałowski’s Poznan Chamber Choir, was given the prestigious international Golden Orpheus award – L’Orphée d’Or. The prize is granted by l’Académie du Disque Lyrique in Paris.

The Oratorio about Saint Philip Neri's death written by Pasquale Anfossi (1727-1797) was recorded in Święta Góra sanctuary near Gostyń during the 8th Festival of Oratorio Music Musica Sacromontana.
Other artists included: Iwona Hossa, Anna Mikołajczyk-Niewiedział, Agnieszka Rehlis, Rafał Bartmiński and Sinfonia Viva Orchestra led by Tomasz Radziwonowicz.
The album's sound director is Łukasz Kurzawski.

Fryderyk 2015 nomination

We are happy to announce that the double album Oratorio la morte di San Filippo Neri, with the participation of Bartosz Michałowski's Poznan Chamber Choir, has been nominated to Fryderyk 2015 � the Poland's most important award of the phonographic industry.


Gold Award

We are pleased to announce that Dżem � Symphonic Concert DVD album with the participance of the Poznan Chamber Choir and the Le Quattro Stagioni Orchestra has been granted the Gold Award.

The award will be handed out on the 14th of November 2014 in the House of Music and Dance in Zabrze. Alongside the ceremony there is also a concert of hit songs coming from the Platinum album.


Premiere on the Musica Sacromontana Festival

During the 9th Festival of Oratorio Music Musica Sacromontana, held in Święta Góra sanctuary, Poznan Chamber Choir will give the first-ever performance of the Litany by Jan Wański – a composer from the Wielkopolska region, who was born in 1756. The Litany will be preceded by pieces of music written by Micheal McGlynn, Henryk Mikołaj Górecki and Marek Raczyński.

For the 3rd time on Transatlantyk Festival

On the 8th of August Poznan Chamber Choir will perform on the prestigious Transatlantyk Festival. During the Opening Ceremony of the Festival the singers, alongside the Transatlantyk Symphony Orchestra led by Monika Wolińska, will perform Universa-Recomposed, a piece written by Jan AP Kaczmarek, an Oscar laureate.


New album coming out in June

Pasquale Anfossi's Oratorio of Filippo Neri's death is the newest CD of Poznan Chamber Choir, recorded along with Anna Mikołajczyk-Niewiedział, Agnieszka Rehlis, Iwona Hossa, Rafał Bartmiński and Sinfonia Viva Orchestra conducted by Tomasz Radziwonowicz. The album, which belongs to a prestigious Musica Sacromontana series, will be released on the 7th of June 2014.


Totus Tuus - in the Footsteps of Holiness

Due to the canonization of John Paul II Poznan Chamber Choir presents a new concert program which associates a cappella sacred music with the words of the Polish Pope.
The first Totus Tuus � in the Footsteps of Holiness concerts will be held in May in St. Adalbert's Church in Konin and in the Church of the Holy Heart of Jesus in Nowy Tomyśl.
There is also a concert planned for the 14th of October 2014 on Jasna Góra sanctuary in Częstochowa.


Concert in Lincoln Center, New York

On the 9th of November 2014 Poznan Chamber Choir will sing in Lincoln Center in New York. The program of the concert, during which Polish singers will perform alongside American artists, involves Donald McCullough's cantata: In the Shadow of Holocaust. The concert will be conducted by the composer himself.


Łukasz Urbaniak - the 2014 Resident Composer

The singers of the Poznan Chamber Choir - the official choir of the OPUS 966 Polish Composer Competition - granted the Poznan Chamber Choir Resident Composer award. The winner of the voting, which was run before the official announcement of the competition results, was Łukasz Urbaniak, who later received 1st prize! 

In 2014 the composer is to write three pieces especially for Poznan Chamber Choir. The choir is obliged to prepare their premiere and add them to its repertoire.

On Transatlantyk Festival again!

Poznan Chamber Choir was invited to participate in the 3rd edition of the Transatlantyk International Film and Music Festival. The singers will perform on Sunday, 4th of August, together with the l’Autunno Orchestra, conducted by Adam Banaszak, and with Sara Andon, a flute-player. The evening is held on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of Varèse Sarabande – one of the biggest film music companies, where numerous prominent soundtracks were recorded, such as Driving Miss Daisy, Matrix, Shrek and Star Trek.

Musica Sacromontana: an Oratorio of Filippo Neri’s death

During the 8th edition of the prestigious Musica Sacromontana Festival, Oratorio La morte di San Filippo Neri (Oratorio of Filippo Neri’s death) will be performed for the first time. The piece was written in the 18th century by Pasquale Anfossi, and the score was obtained from the collection of the Oratorian Fathers in Rome.

Poznan Chamber Choir will perform with outstanding Polish soloists and Sinfonia Viva orchestra, conducted by Tomasz Radziwonowicz.

Poznan Chamber Choir sings for the city of Poznan

On the 28th of June, on the eve of St Peter’s and St Paul’s Day - the Patron Saints of Poznan - a concert of Poznan Chamber Choir, conducted by Bartosz Michalowski, will be held in the Sanctuary of Mother of God Mighty in Miracles, situated on the Hill of Przemysl.

The choir will perform pieces by Francis Poulenc, Gyorgy Deak Bardos, Gesualdo da Venosa, Feliks Nowowiejski, Andrzej Koszewski and Albert Becker.

The concert starts at 7 p.m.
Admission free.

The concert is organized by the Vis Artis Association of Music Admirers and the Franciscans. The event was partly funded by the Poznan City Council.

Florilège Vocal de Tours 2013

Poznan Chamber Choir is the only Polish ensemble to take part in the 42nd edition of the prestigious competition Florilège Vocal de Tours in France. The choir will compete with participants from Great Britain, Spain, Italy, Norway, Sweden, the United States of America, the Philippines and Puerto Rico.


Lux Aeterna - 70th birthday of Morten Lauridsen

London, Cambridge, Copenhagen, Johannesburg, Dallas, Cardiff and...

Poznań, being the only city in Poland that will join the world's 70th birthday celebration of Morten Lauridsen, a prominent American composer whose extraordinary works fill with delight both the listeners and the critics at all latitudes.

On the 2nd March at 7 p.m. the choir will perform the mistical Lux Aeterna - one of the most famous works of Morten Lauridsen, and one hour after the concert a special screening of a movie Shining Night. A Portait of Composer Morten Lauridsen. (2012) will take place.

Radziwiłł's Faust will resound after years!

During the inauguration of the VIIth Oratorio Music Festival Musica Sacromontana Poznan Chamber Choir will peform Faust, composed by Prince Antoni Radziwiłł to Johann Wolgang von Goethe's drama, with Lower Silesia Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Marcin Nałęcz - Niesiołowski. The world premiere of the composition took place in Berlin in 1835, a few years after Radziwiłł and Goethe's death. It is worth mentioning that Radziwiłł's Faust was the first musical adaptation of the famous drama in history.

The premiere of the latest album

On June 23, 2012, during the concert commemorating the 500th anniversary of the recognition of miracles at the Holy Mountain, the presentation of the latest album Musica Sacromontana was held. The album features the premiere recording of Johannes Baptista Lohr's Missa solemnis in B recorded by Poznan Chamber Choir and the orchestra, Czech Virtuosi in September 2011.

Professor Stefan Stuligrosz died yesterday

We say farewell to professor Stefan Stuligrosz, the founder of the world famous Poznan Nightingales, a remarkable conductor, teacher, musicologist and composer, tutor of several generations of singers.


At the end of the season...

Listen to the last two concerts in the 2011/2012 season. On 16th June Poznan Chamber Choir will perform a concert in Saint Andrew Bobola Church in Poznań. The concert shall feature the works of Tallis, Nowowiejski and Koszewski. A week later, along with the ensemble Kapela Świętogórska and brilliant soloists, the choir shall celebrate the 500th anniversary of the recognition of the wonders on Święta Góra near Gostyń.

The admission to both concerts is free.


Another concert with Concerto Köln

After incredibly successful concerts in Poznan and during XXIst Mikołowskie Dni Muzyki in May 2011, Concerto Köln invited Poznan Chamber Choir to Cologne (Germany). The concert held on April 15, 2012, co-organized by Adam Mickiewicz Institute, featured Grzegorz Gerwazy Gorczycki's Completorium and Conductus funebris; one of Three Pieces in the Olden Style and Benedictus for a female choir a cappella by Krzysztof Penderecki.

    Messiah 1742 - Dublin version

    On April 13, 2012, the 270th anniversary of the premiere performance of G.F. Handel's Messiah oratorio, Poznan Chamber Choir presented to music lovers the extremely rarely performed Dublin version of the masterpiece. The ensemble was accompanied by Irish Baroque Orchestra from Dublin, and the whole was conducted by Bartosz Michałowski.

    G. F. Handel's Messiah 1742 Dublin version

    Bartosz Michalowski's Poznan Chamber Choir has once more prepared a surprise for the lovers of Early music.
    On April 13, 2012 Poznan citizens will witness an extraordinary event. Precisely, on the 270th anniversary of the first performance of the famous G. F. Handel's Messiah oratorio (Dublin, April 13, 1742), the piece will be peformed in Poznan in the original - Dublin version. Undoubtedly, it is the most rarely performed version of the oratorio.
    Upon the invitation of Poznan Chamber Choir, Irish Baroque Orchestra (artistic director - Monica Hugget), playing the instruments from the epoch, will visit the capital of the Greater Poland. Both ensembles will be accompanied by eminent Polish soloists conducted by Bartosz Michalowski.

    Mr. Mateusz Morawiecki, the Honorary Consul of Ireland and Irish Culture Foundation have taken the patronage over this event.

    Spring with Gorczycki

    In March and April, Poznan Chamber Choir will perform again the compositions by G. G. Gorczycki and other Polish Baroque composers. A concert of Polish early music will be held at one of the historic churches in Poznan in the first half of March, while on April 15,2012 Poznan Chamber Choir will perform again with the world famous orchestra, Concerto Köln. The programme of the concert in Cologne (Germany) will feature Completorium and Conductus funebris by Grzegorz Gerwazy Gorczycki. Both works were performed by PCC and CK in Poznan in the previous year.

    In memory of Henryk Mikołaj Górecki

    Poznan Chamber Choir will perform the splendid composition by Jacek Sykulski - Freedom Comes Time For Us. The concert will take place on the anniversary of the composition's premiere, on 27.12.2010, at Poznan University Hall.

    Rapturous applause at SHMF

    The performance of Poznan Chamber Choir at one of the most prestigious festivals in Europe - Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival - was rewarded with a long standing ovation!

    This unusual for the festival form of appreciation was also reflected in the interest in the choir's recordings. In the course of only 20 minutes after the end of the concert, the choir sold 70 albums of Anima aetheris!

    The programme of the concert included choral a cappela music by, among many others, P. Łukaszewski, M. Lauridsen, A. Koszewski, F. Nowowiejski, S. Wiechowicz and K. M. Prosnak.


    Neuchâtel: 1st Prize and the Audience Award

    Poznan Chamber Choir won the 1st PRIZE at the 13th International Choral Festival in Neuchâtel (Switzerland). Furthermore the jury unanimously decided that the choir performed the unrivalled rendition of an obligatory piece "O Crux" by Knut Nystedt.

    The audience that attended the auditions and the additional concerts also expressed their appreciation of the Poznan Chamber Choir and awarded the choir the AUDIENCE AWARD.

    The competition that took place from 7 to 11 July 2010 gathered choirs from Armenia, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Finland, Hungary, Italy, Moldova, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia and Spain.
